FUNGI, SOUP & MAFIA

BLACK DIAMONDS AND WITCHES' RINGS

This seminar with Alison Pouliot explores the curious and compelling portrayal of fungi across cultures and time. Black diamonds - highly sought-after Périgord truffles - and witches' rings - a circle of mushrooms associated with the surreptitious work of witches - represent two extreme perceptions of the power and value of fungi. While humans have been busy concocting these fungal fantasies, fungi have been steadily working away underground to support the ecological function of the planet. This illustrated seminar takes participants deep into the fungal kingdom to explore the nether regions of their being.

MAFIA

"Of course it's not me! I have no reason to kill him!" That's what they all say. Mafia is a role-playing game of strategy, survival, and the ability to spot a fraud. Coming from the Moscow State University, it was created in 1986 by researcher and teacher, Dmitry Davidoff as a Psychology Department classroom exercise. Come prepared to kill, die and accuse you way out of this one.
